El Parque D'Onofrio
Why we recommend it
El Parque D'Onofrio occupies a yellow corner mansion at Calle Lima 401, facing Parque Kennedy; on Instagram it calls itself 'the sweetest corner in Miraflores'. Its website describes it as Peru's first confectionery-restaurant and says it has operated since 1960, with ice cream, sandwiches and à la carte dishes; diners' photos show banana splits, ice cream, chicken broth, soups, salchipapas, ceviche, lomo saltado and juices. Our take: it is an old-school café-confectionery on the most central spot in Miraflores, handy at any hour for breakfast, a Creole dish or an ice cream, with no culinary pretensions. Practical notes: according to Google it opens at 8:30 every day, until 23:00 Monday to Saturday and until 22:30 on Sundays; it does not take reservations, has a kids' menu, and nearby parking is paid. Curation notice: its Instagram lists shorter hours (8:30 to 22:00), so it is worth confirming before a late visit.
