About Limeo
A guide with a point of view, not an aggregator
Limeo is a curated guide to modern Lima — restaurants with a point of view, this week's events worth going to, shows on the bill. Every entry here went through a human decision.
What you'll find
Restaurants (7, growing)
7 hand-picked spots, not 500. Four entries from Latin America's 50 Best (Maido, Central, Kjolle, Astrid & Gastón), a handful of fine-dining Peruvian, a neighborhood cebichería (La Picantería), a steakhouse in La Molina (Osso). Each with an opinionated take — not press notes.
Events (837 this week)
837 events this week from 7 distinct sources (Joinnus, Teleticket, Heptagrama, EnLima, Británico, CCELima, Ticketmaster). Ricky Martin's concert in September, Bodas de Sangre runs at Teatro Marsano, the Cherry Blossom festival at Circuito Mágico — all in one agenda.
Shows (34 today)
For productions with multiple performances, what you need is ONE page, not loose listings. Hablando Huevadas = 5 nights of the podcast at Canout, all at /show/hablando-huevadas-2e3571. With editorial preview, FAQ, full schedule. What a real theater bill deserves.
How we curate
A pipeline scrapes the 7 sources weekly. Auto-dedup across titles + venues, recurring-show detection, ranking by 8 signals (source, image quality, cross-source confirmation, editorial description, geocoding…). Then the human decision kicks in — what counts as a worth-it show, what event deserves the hero, which restaurant makes the top.
Not just algorithmic; algorithmic + a point of view.
Editorial voice
When we say Maido is “the kitchen where nikkei stopped being fusion and became a category of its own” — that's a sentence we wrote, not Maido's PR. When we say Hablando Huevadas is “Peru's filthiest podcast turned into live stand-up” — no clichés like “must-see” or “hidden gem”.
What Limeo is NOT
To be clear:
- Not an exhaustive guide. We cover what's worth it, not everything. If something's missing, it's because we haven't gotten to it yet.
- No user reviews / comments. Yet. Editorial goes first; UGC comes later.
- Not a mobile app yet. Web first. Mobile when the web is mature.
- No ads, no paid placements. We don't sell rankings. If Maido is at the top it's because it's the world's #1, not because someone paid.
Who's behind it
Curated by Mangel.
It's a one-person project, not a team. When you read “we” on the site, that's me. No investors, no partners, no obligation to include anyone. That's the strength — and sometimes the limitation.
Limeo started as a response to Lima not having a decent, opinionated guide. Aggregators are spammy. Magazines are sponsored. Google Maps doesn't understand editorial judgment. If you also want a place to find out what's worth doing in Lima without swallowing marketing, Limeo is for you.
Know something that should be here?
Drop me a line. I read everything that comes in.
