Museo del Café Peruano
Why we recommend it
The Museo del Café Peruano is at Jr. Lampa 236, in the historic center, a block from the Plaza de Armas. On its Google listing the place presents itself as Café del Coati, a Peruvian specialty coffee shop aimed at people who want to get to know the country's coffees right on the tourist route. What shows up most in diners' photos is the iced coffee, the cappuccino, the espresso and the granola, and Google highlights its tea selection, desserts and live music. Our take: it is a well-handled coffee break in the middle of a walk through downtown, more specialty café than museum, and it works both for an early breakfast and for a rest between visits. It opens every day from 8:00 to 20:00, with a spend of S/ 20 to 40 per person according to Google; it has a terrace and outdoor seating, free wifi and welcomes dogs. Curation note: it has no working website (its domain does not load), and the hours and attributes come from its Google listing.
