Quepay - Taberna Arequipeña

Quepay is an Arequipa-style tavern on Jirón Cotabambas, right behind the Palace of Justice in central Lima. On Instagram it presents itself through chicha, adobo, chilcanos and chicharrones; rocoto relleno, pastel de papa and queso helado are the dishes that come up most in Google reviews. Our take: it is a lunch stop for Arequipa cooking without leaving downtown, more traditional eating house than chef-driven restaurant. It is a daytime place only: Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 16:30 and Sundays from 9:00; Google notes that it takes reservations and cards, and bookings are handled via WhatsApp. Curator's note: both websites the house has used (tabernaquepay.com and quepayrestaurante.com) no longer work; contact details and hours come from its Google listing and its Instagram.
