Sándwich Palermo Café

Sándwich Palermo Café's Surco location sits on Jirón El Polo, in Monterrico's commercial strip. The house started in 1974 in Balconcillo, La Victoria, and now runs several branches with the same formula: Peruvian sandwiches of country-style ham, chicharrón, turkey, chicken and tamales, plus juices and coffee. Our take: it is a breakfast and mid-morning classic rather than a dining destination; what matters is the sandwich made to order and the consistency of a house with more than five decades behind it. It opens Monday to Saturday from 7:00 to 21:00 and on Sundays only until 1 p.m. Google lists free parking and wheelchair access.
