About Lomas de Lúcumo

Lomas de Lúcumo are in the rural settlement of Quebrada Verde, in Pachacámac, and are run by the Asociación Circuito Ecoturístico Lomas de Lúcumo, formed by the community. According to its website, the circuit grew out of a 1996 community development plan, officially opened in August 2003 and has had an interpretation centre since 2011; Google describes it as a place with lush vegetation, rock paintings and hiking. Besides general entry to the circuit, the association offers two routes with a local guide: Los Guardianes (about 3 hours) and Los Lúcumos (about 5 hours). Our take: it is the best-organised loma for a first outing, with a ticket office, guides from the community itself and signage, but it is a hillside hike, not a park stroll: go in trekking shoes and sportswear, with repellent and sunscreen, as the association recommends. Visits happen only during the lomas season, which for 2026 the association announces from August to December; on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays entry is from 8:00 to 13:00, and from Monday to Friday only organised groups with a guide and a booking are admitted. Admission is S/ 10 for adults and S/ 6 for children aged 3 to 11 and over-60s (with ID); the guided routes cost S/ 60 and S/ 70 per group of up to 14 people, plus VAT. Pets are not allowed. Curation note: the website's recommendations page mentions opening in July and August, while the 2026 season notice says August to December; it is worth calling before going.
