About Lomas de Paraíso

Lomas de Paraíso, also known as Lomas de Villa María, are in Villa María del Triunfo; the entrance is through the Edén del Manantial settlement, at the end of Av. Paraíso, the last stop of bus line 22. They are managed by the Asociación Circuito Ecoturístico Lomas de Paraíso and are part of the Sistema de Lomas de Lima Regional Conservation Area, recognised in 2019; Actualidad Ambiental puts them at about 691 hectares. Andina reported in 2013, when the Lima city government opened the circuit, a 2.6 km guided route of about two and a half hours, with amancaes flowers, wild papaya or mito, vizcachas, kestrels and rock paintings; the association's website adds the fog catchers and hillside lookouts. Our take: it can be reached by public transport from the María Auxiliadora train station, and the guided visit is worth it because it explains both the ecosystem and the pressure of the land invasions around it. Entry is free because it is a public area; the guiding service has a cost the website does not publish and is booked via WhatsApp. Pets are not allowed, you must carry out your rubbish, and the association recommends shoes with grip, a windbreaker, sunscreen and a cap; shops and toilets are only at the start and end. Curation note: we found no official hours or season dates; the website only mentions the green season, when the amancaes bloom.
