About Parque del Migrante José María Arguedas
Parque del Migrante José María Arguedas sits at the junction of Av. Aviación and Av. Bausate y Meza, in La Victoria, and is run by Serpar, the Lima city government's parks service. According to El Comercio, it opened at the end of 2014 on the site of the former La Parada wholesale market, covers 3.5 hectares and is named after the writer and anthropologist José María Arguedas for his work on Andean culture. Serpar lists walking, jogging and running, children's play areas and the use and rental of sports courts and pitches; Google describes it with jogging paths and fenced football and volleyball areas. Our take: it is a neighbourhood park for sport and for taking the kids, not a tourist stroll, and its value lies in what it replaced. Entry is free, Monday to Sunday from 6:45 to 17:30 according to Serpar; pets and alcoholic drinks are not allowed and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Google lists a wheelchair-accessible entrance, swings and public restrooms. Curation note: Google shows it open 24 hours and allowing dogs; we used Serpar's hours and rules.
