About Museo de Arte Italiano
The Museo de Arte Italiano is on Paseo de la República, inside Parque Juana Alarco de Dammert, steps from the Parque de la Exposición, and is run by the Ministry of Culture. It opened on 11 November 1923 with the collection critic Mario Vannini Parenti assembled in Italy in 1921 and 1922: almost 200 works by more than 120 artists —painting, sculpture, prints, watercolour, drawing and ceramics—, with names such as Giorgio Belloni, Italico Brass, Oscar Ghiglia and Gian Emilio Malerba. Our take: the Ministry itself notes there is no avant-garde; it is a short visit to see how people painted in Italy around 1900, and it pairs well with MALI and the Parque de la Exposición. It opens Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30) and on the first Sunday of each month for Museos Abiertos, with free entry. General admission is S/ 6 and S/ 3 for higher-education students and teachers; since November 2025 it is free for minors aged 3 to 17, seniors and people with disabilities who are Peruvian or residents. It accepts cash, Yape, Plin, Visa and Mastercard.
