About Museo de Artes y Ciencias "Ingeniero Eduardo de Habich"

The Museo de Artes y Ciencias "Ing. Eduardo de Habich" is housed in the Central Pavilion of the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, opposite its Gran Teatro, at Av. Túpac Amaru 210, and is named after the engineer who founded the School of Engineers, the forerunner of UNI. It brings together a room of 19th- and 20th-century Peruvian painting and sculpture, pre-Hispanic ceramics from cultures such as Chancay, Huaura, Chimú, Moche and Recuay, and, since 2017, a room adding pieces from scientific collections such as the minerals of the Museo Andrés del Castillo (ProActivo); in 2019 the Ministry of Culture declared a group of its holdings Cultural Heritage of the Nation (El Peruano). Our take: it is a small, little-known university museum, worth it for the way it crosses art and science inside a historic campus rather than for its size. It opens Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00, according to the Ministry of Culture listing, and admission is free; group and school visits are booked through museo@uni.edu.pe or WhatsApp. Curation note: UNI has announced special openings on some Sundays; check its social media before going.
