Chicho
Why we recommend it
Chicho is Augusto Baldoceda's place on Avenida Comandante Espinar, and it sets itself up as a creole tavern rather than a white-tablecloth restaurant: the menu runs from sandwiches — crisp pork belly with yellow chilli cream, butifarra, pejerrey — to the classics of the pot, with patita con maní, cau cau, ocopa and huancaína, and a chilcano list that keeps the table going. There is a pavement terrace under parasols, wifi, a private dining room and a happy hour. Our read: it works equally for a working lunch and for staying until closing; at 4.8 across more than two thousand reviews it is among the best-rated in the neighbourhood, so go early. Since 2025 there is a second branch on Avenida El Sol, in Barranco. Nominated for Best Creole Food at the Premios Somos 2026.
