Comida criolla y casera en una casona del Jr. Ica, con música criolla en vivo · cercado de lima · $$
El Gran Bitute
Why we recommend it
El Gran Bitute operates in an old house on Jr. Ica, in the heart of Lima's historic center, and —according to the house itself— has spent sixteen years serving homestyle Creole flavors. On Google diners single out the ceviche, lomo saltado and duck rice, along with the setting of a restored colonial house and live Creole and Afro-Peruvian music; the menu also covers breakfasts, causas, fried platters for sharing and Creole-style pastas. Our take: it is a Lima table for long after-meal lingering, more neighborhood party with a guitar than museum restaurant, and it works well for groups. It opens Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 21:30 and Sunday from 8:00 to 19:00, according to its Instagram; it takes reservations and has a private dining room, a terrace and wifi. Curation note: the house gives its address as number 326 on Jr. Ica, while Google places it at 322.
