La Tranquera

La Tranquera is at Av. José Pardo 285, two blocks from Parque Kennedy, in a large dining room with red tablecloths and a wooden ceiling. The house says it has been famous for its meats since 1974, and its menu revolves around American and Argentine cuts —the grill for two arrives at the table on a brazier—, paired with Peruvian and imported wines, pisco sours and desserts; diners' photos show churrasco, lomo saltado and fries. Our take: it is a classic waiter-and-tablecloth steakhouse, more tradition than avant-garde, and for that very reason a safe bet for a family or group meal in central Miraflores. Practical notes: it is closed on Mondays; Tuesday to Saturday it serves from noon to 11 p.m. and on Sundays until 9 p.m.; reservations via Mesa 24/7 and, according to Google, on-site parking.
