La panadería del pan trenzado en Los Libertadores: jalá, bagels y lox · san isidro · $$
Oh-jalá
Why we recommend it
It is at C. Los Libertadores 256 in San Isidro. Deborah Trapunsky Epstein, an architect by training, founded it in December 2016 around the challah — the braided Jewish bread that gives the shop its name — and the house says it has baked more than ninety bread varieties since, alongside nuditos, scones and karamandukas. On Google, what shows up flagged most are the bagel and the lox, and it is highlighted for good coffee and desserts. Our read: the name is the joke and the thesis at once — "oh-jalá", ojalá, challah — and behind it is something less common than a themed bakery: a Jewish recipe book served in a neighbourhood that is not, with the founder telling the origin of each loaf. The hours are a bakery's, not a café's: it opens at 8 and closes at 7:30, Saturdays at 6:30 and Sundays at 4. It allows dogs and has a garage. The entry records a 2026 Premios Somos nomination for Best Café. Curation note: the Google listing publishes no website — it requests one as missing information — and the directory entry carried no address. With twelve spend reports, the price range is indicative only. No menu with prices is published, so the menu remains pending.
