Pan de masa madre y café en la calle Tarata · miraflores · $$ · S/20–40 per person
Panea
Why we recommend it
It is at Calle Tarata 290 in Miraflores, the pedestrian street half a block off Larco. Google lists it as Panea Pan & café with 4.2 from 126 reviews and a reported spend of 20 to 40 soles a head; the most-tagged items are the hot chocolate and the turmeric bread. The house also has a branch in Surquillo, at Jr. Leoncio Prado 697, still with very few reviews; we chose Tarata as the heavier of the two. Dogs are allowed inside, the entrance is listed as accessible and Google marks it LGBTQ+ friendly. Our reading: Google's listing reads as a bakery with tables — breakfast, coffee, 'quick visit' — rather than a restaurant; the critical reviews aim precisely at the savoury plates, not at the bread or the coffee, which is where the house plays strongest. Curation note: the directory entry carried no address, zone, phone or attributes. Hours were recovered later from Google's public listing: Monday to Saturday 7:30 to 21:00, Sundays 8:30 to 17:00.
