About Parque El Olivar

Bosque El Olivar covers more than 10 hectares in San Isidro, between Av. Paz Soldán, Av. La República and Calle Antero Aspíllaga, and is looked after by the San Isidro city government. According to the municipality, it has 1,946 trees of 44 species —85% are olive trees, some more than 350 years old— and some 35 bird species seen seasonally, 22 of them native; it was declared a National Monument in 1959, a Monumental Zone in 1998 and a district Environmental Conservation Area. Google describes it with ponds with koi and flower beds. Our take: it is a forest for walking slowly among twisted trunks, with no rides or ticket office, and one of the few places in Lima where the city noise genuinely drops. It is a public space with free access; Google lists a wheelchair-accessible entrance, picnic space, public restrooms and that dogs are allowed. Curation note: we found no official opening hours; Google marks it as open 24 hours.
