About Parque John F. Kennedy

Parque John F. Kennedy is in the centre of Miraflores, between Av. Diagonal and Schell, Lima and Virgen Milagrosa streets; according to the Miraflores city government, together with Parque 7 de Junio it forms the district's Central Park, about 22,000 m². Around it are the Virgen Milagrosa church, completed in 1930, and the Town Hall, and Andina reports that the colony of more than a hundred cats living in the park arrived in 1990, when the municipality brought them in to fight a rat infestation; today a group of volunteers looks after them. Our take: it is not a park for lying on the grass but a lively square, good for starting or ending a walk around Miraflores, and for most of the day there are artists, vendors and families around the cats. Google lists swings, slides, a skate area and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and says dogs are allowed. It is a public space with free access. Curation note: we found no official opening hours; Google gives a 22:00 closing time that we could not confirm with the municipality.
