AMANO | Museo Textil Precolombino
The museum Yoshitaro Amano opened in Miraflores in 1964, devoted entirely to the textiles of ancient Peru: a sequence from Chavín to the Incas and a room that opens part of its storerooms, with drawers full of Chancay weavings.

About AMANO | Museo Textil Precolombino
AMANO Museo Textil Precolombino is at Calle Retiro 160, in Miraflores, at the level of block 11 of Av. Angamos Oeste; Yoshitaro Amano founded it in 1964 and it reopened years later with a new museographic approach. The permanent exhibition has three strands: a chronological sequence of Peruvian textiles (Chavín, Paracas, Nasca, Mochica, Huari, Chimú, Chancay, Inca and other cultures), a room on raw materials, dyes, spinning and looms, and the Yoshitaro Amano Room, a partially open storeroom whose drawers hold more than 460 Chancay pieces; the first two rooms display more than 120 textiles (official website). Our take: it is a single-subject museum, small and very well mounted, and the drawer room is what sets it apart: you look closely at technique, not just at a display case. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00; on Mondays only by prior appointment. General admission is S/ 35, with S/ 25 for Peruvian adults over 65 and S/ 15 for Peruvian students; guided tours are paid separately per group (S/ 60 simple, S/ 100 specialised) and groups of 11 or more must arrange their visit in advance. Google lists accessible entrance, restrooms and parking, free wifi and free parking.
