About Museo Naval Casa Grau

The Museo Naval Casa Grau is at Jr. Huancavelica 170, two blocks from the Plaza de Armas: it is the two-storey house with a wooden balcony where Admiral Miguel Grau lived, and it belongs to the Defence sector through the Navy. The ground floor is devoted to the Navy of Grau's time, with family portraits, visiting cards and 19th-century photography; the upper floor traces his life, from childhood and his naval career to his time in Congress, the War of the Pacific and his family, with photographs by Eugenio Courret and his testament-letter to his wife (Andina). Our take: it is an intimate house museum for a short visit, best understood as a companion to the story of Angamos rather than as a full naval museum. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00, according to its Google listing. Curation note: the naval museums' website does not load in the browser and there is no official admission price published; hours and phone come from the museum's Google listing.
