Ayahuasca
Why we recommend it
Ayahuasca occupies the Mansión Berninzon, a restored late-19th-century republican mansion at Av. San Martín 130, a few blocks from Barranco's main park; according to the house, it has operated as a restobar for about fifteen years and has more than ten spaces that it also rents for events. At midday it serves a Creole and fusion menu —octopus causa, classic ceviche, lomo saltado, grilled octopus— and from 6 pm it switches to small plates to go with drinks, with the Ayahuasca platter as its signature. The bar works on signature cocktails made with pisco and its own herb and coca leaf macerates. Our take: it is more a walk through a mansion than a restaurant; it is best enjoyed in a group, moving from one room to another, and the food goes with the drinks rather than the other way round. It opens every day from noon and closes at 2 am, or 3 am Thursday to Saturday; bookings are handled via WhatsApp. Curation note: the terrace and outdoor seating come from Google's summary; we could not verify accessibility, payments or parking.
