El Hornero

Armando Tafur opened El Hornero more than twenty years ago on Malecón Grau, and from there grew a brand with rooms in Barranco, San Isidro, La Molina and Asia. The Chorrillos original is still the most photographed: broad wood-panelled rooms, white tablecloths, its own cellar —the Cava El Tinto— and the sea view that turns up in almost every review. The grill leads the menu: Angus cuts, short rib, sharing platters, classic sides and a long wine list. The Premios Somos named it Best Steakhouse three years running, 2024 to 2026. Our read: this is white-tablecloth grilling rather than a neighbourhood parrilla; it works for celebrations and for Sunday family lunch, and it is worth asking for a table with the view when you book.
