Ezzem

It sits at Avenida José Larco 1169 in Miraflores and opened on 21 December 2024. Úrsula Mohanna runs it with her daughter Úrsula Reves: Mohanna descends from Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian families with three generations in Peru, studied business administration, worked for a pharmaceutical company and, before this restaurant, created the chocolate brand Ummun; in 2023 she travelled to Lebanon to learn the recipes first-hand. The name is a play on words — "Ezzem" is "mezze" backwards — and that is the logic of the menu: dips and starters to share, with hommus bi lahmeh, muhammara, babaganoush, labneh, falafel with tarator, kibbeh, warak enab, fattoush with pomegranate, lamb with hashweh and, for dessert, knafeh and a tahini brownie. The bar is their own, with a white negroni named after the house. Our take: it grew without advertising, filling up daily on barely a handful of Instagram posts, and that says more about word of mouth than any campaign; it is one of the few places in Lima where the Middle East is served as a recipe book rather than as fusion.
