Cocina peruana de autor del chef Rodrigo Fernandini en una casona barranquina · barranco · $$$$
Fernandini Restaurante
Why we recommend it
It sits at Calle Sánchez Carrión 112, on Barranco's boulevard, inside an old mansion the house also presents as a cultural space, between art, food and lifestyle. The chef, Rodrigo Fernandini, was born in Chiclayo, studied at Le Cordon Bleu Lima and, according to his own website, worked in Michelin-starred kitchens and ran his restaurant Artesano in New York before opening this one, his first in Peru. The main menu takes Peruvian flavors and reinterprets them: the Pato Norteño with aged magret, northern-style risotto and huancaína; Entre las Rocas, with sea urchin and chupe tiger's milk; or the Falso Ceviche of mushrooms and cauliflower tiger's milk; there is also a tasting menu, a vegan menu and a bar. Our take: it is a signature restaurant with a strong personal and family streak, aiming to surprise while still sounding like home; the northern repertoire is its clearest thread. Practical notes: it opens every day from noon, until 23:00 Monday to Thursday, until 23:30 Friday and Saturday (with the bar until midnight) and until 17:00 on Sundays; reservations are made through its website. Curation notice: Google indicates the entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
