La Emolientería
Why we recommend it
La Emolientería is on Jirón Carabaya, a block from Plaza San Martín, and has a second location on the Barranco clifftop promenade. Its bio defines it as a bar of «pisco, emoliente and street food»: emoliente, the herbal drink of Lima's street carts, goes into cocktails such as the emoliente mojito, alongside chilcanos, piscos and bar food. Our take: it is a festive bar with bright, colorful decor, better for a night out with a group or a birthday downtown than for a quiet conversation; on weekends there is dancing and football on screen. It opens Monday to Saturday (Mondays from 16:00) and until 3:00 on Fridays and Saturdays; it is closed on Sundays. Curator's note: the menu linked from its Linktree is a Google Drive file, and the photo is a cocktail published by the brand, shared with its Barranco location.
