La Onceava
Why we recommend it
La Onceava sits at Av. Lima 902, on the side of Barranco that faces Surco, in a building with a green-wall facade and its name in large letters. Its website says it has been in the neighborhood for more than three decades and that the name comes from the lunches once cooked for the eleventh crew of the San Martín de Porres brotherhood. The menu mixes seafood, Creole and fusion cooking: seafood platters and grills, fish, rice dishes, a shrimp risotto with loche squash and the house pisco sour. Our take: it is a family and weekend lunch restaurant, of long tables and sharing platters, closer to Barranco's traditional lunch than to chef-driven cooking. It opens every day during daytime only, from 10 am to 5:30 pm according to Google, and on public holidays the house advertises shows, a mime and face painting for kids; reservations go through Mesa 24/7 and WhatsApp. Curator's note: Google lists the phone number 913 958 707 while the house website gives 963 913 033 (we use the website's); the website states closing at 6 pm. The venue's amenities were taken from TripAdvisor because the Google listing could only be checked in limited view.
