The house defines itself as a tea room and restaurant with an international menu and cocktails, and its image leans on fine china and lace tablecloths; diners' photos show cappuccinos, teas, waffles and sangria, and Google highlights its breakfasts, desserts and tea selection. Our take: it is a place of gentle ceremony, better suited to afternoon tea, a weekend brunch or a quiet date than to a quick meal; its appeal is as much the staging as the food. Practical notes: it is closed on Mondays; Tuesday to Friday it opens at noon, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. for breakfast; bookings are taken on its website, and Google warns that street parking is somewhat hard to find.
