Naruto Japanese Food
Why we recommend it
Naruto Japanese Food is at Av. Aviación 2982, in San Borja, and is the main location of a brand that now has outposts in Pueblo Libre, La Molina and outside Lima. The house says it opened in 2013 with traditional Japanese cooking in a themed setting, and the dining room confirms it: wooden booths painted with anime characters and paper lanterns. The menu is organized into starters such as yakitori, gyoza and ebi tempura, rolls, ramen, udon, griddle dishes, donburi over rice and stews. Our take: it is a casual, affordable Japanese spot, closer to a Tokyo neighborhood eatery than an auteur sushi bar, and the décor makes it an easy outing with kids or anime fans. It is open from 12 noon to 10:45 p.m. Monday to Saturday and until 10 p.m. on Sundays; parking is on the street and often hard to find.
