Shushupe Bar Barranco
Why we recommend it
Shushupe occupies a large two-level space at Av. Almirante Miguel Grau 203, half a block from Barranco's Parque Municipal. It presents itself as a jungle bar of macerated liquors and a 'Peruvian party with a taste of the rainforest', with drinks and bar snacks, and every Friday it hosts Rumba Salvaje with a band playing live salsa and cumbia. Google places it in the S/ 40-60 per person range and highlights its cocktails, that it is a place to dance and that it has games. Our take: it is a dance floor with an Amazonian identity rather than a cocktail bar; it is for going out dancing in a group, not for conversation. It opens only on Fridays and Saturdays, from 20:30 to 04:00. Curator's note: the Google listing is unclaimed and the venue has no website; the phone number comes from Google and the hours match its Instagram bio. Google indicates the entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
