About Museo Casa Santa Rosa de Lima

The Museo Casa Santa Rosa de Lima is part of the Santa Rosa sanctuary, on the first block of Avenida Tacna, in central Lima. According to ACI Prensa, the sanctuary preserves the layout of the 16th-century house where Rose of Lima lived: the room where she was born, her bedroom, the hermitage where she prayed —next to which is the roughly 20-metre-deep well where the faithful leave their wishes in writing— and the infirmary where she cared for the needy. Our take: it is a short visit, more about devotion than collection, best understood as a complement to the Santo Domingo convent, where the saint's crypt is. According to its Google listing, it opens Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:30, offers guided visits and has a café; every 30 August, the saint's feast day, the well runs on special hours with long queues. Curation note: we found no official website or published prices; hours and phone come from the museum's Google listing.
