About La Herradura
La Herradura is a cove on the Costa Verde, in Chorrillos, boxed in by cliffs and with a boardwalk of restaurants and nightspots facing the shore. Its left-hand wave, discovered by surfers in the early 1960s and known as "la Herra", was damaged by the 1983 blasting of the cliff, which also left the shore covered in round stones; in summer 2025 the municipality removed stones and brought sand back in (Actualidad Ambiental). In 2024 the Municipality of Chorrillos set up the first video-surveillance centre on the Costa Verde on the boardwalk, as part of its plan to reclaim the area. Our take: it is a beach with history and character, better for watching surf, walking the boardwalk and eating by the sea than for a beach day with children. Entry is free and there are no set hours; in summer you can rent umbrellas and chairs. Curation note: we found no official source with the Digesa rating or services (lifeguards, toilets) for the 2026 season.
