Astrid & Gastón
Cocina peruana contemporánea · san isidro · $$$$
Why we recommend it
Astrid & Gastón opened in 1994 under Gastón Acurio and Astrid Gutsche, and it's hard to tell the story of modern Peruvian cooking without it: it spearheaded the revolution that carried the country onto global rankings. In September 2025 it reclaimed first place at the Gran Premio Summum after years of tight competition. It runs out of Casa Hacienda Moreyra, a colonial mansion in San Isidro, with a tasting menu and à la carte. The tasting reads as a cultural narrative more than a sequence of plates, and the house still trains cooks. It makes sense for an occasion — an anniversary, a trip's finale, a meal that matters — when the room counts as much as the food. Closed Mondays; Sunday is lunch only.
