Cerrito Norteño

Cerrito Norteño has been on Calle Piura for decades, a few blocks from Chiclayo's main square, and it is one of the names locals give without hesitating when asked where to eat northern food: cebiches, corn fritters, cabrito, arroz con pato and chicha de jora, in a big midday dining room. It opens every day at nine and closes at five in the afternoon — you don't dine here, you lunch — and with nearly two thousand reviews it still averages above four stars. Our read: weekends fill up with families and booking helps; for a large table, the Familiar branch on Avenida Grau, in Santa Victoria, is the better bet. Nominated for Summum 2025 as Restaurant of Lambayeque.
