Rincón Cervecero
Why we recommend it
Rincón Cervecero is at Jr. de la Unión 1045-A, on the pedestrian stretch of downtown Lima, with a large wood-panelled room, screens and a draught-beer bar. The house bills itself as the first chopería, since 1999; Google flags the beer and the piqueo cervecero as popular, and reviews keep mentioning the beer tower and the idea of going there to talk. The menu adds Creole plates such as tacu tacu with lomo a lo pobre, ají de gallina and arroz con pollo. Our take: it is a beer hall for groups and long conversations, more about draught beer and shared snacks than chef-driven craft beer. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from noon and is closed on Mondays; on Thursdays it runs until 1:00 and on Fridays and Saturdays into the early hours. It takes online reservations. Curator's note: the Friday and Saturday closing time differs between its Google listing (3:00) and its Instagram bio (2:00); we list Google's.
