About Huaca Santa Catalina

Huaca Santa Catalina stands at Jirón Pascual Saco Oliveros 875, in the Santa Catalina neighborhood of La Victoria, next to a park; it is managed by the Municipality of La Victoria under an agreement with the Ministry of Culture, which carried out preventive conservation work in 2025. According to the municipality, it was an administrative and religious site of the Ychsma and the Incas, later used as a cemetery; the interpretation room displays pottery, funerary bundles, textiles, tools and seashells recovered since 1969, and the building stands out for its cylindrical adobes. Our take: it is a short, neighborhood visit, more instructive than monumental, that pairs well with a walk in the neighboring park. Google lists it as good for kids, with wheelchair-accessible entrance and restrooms. Admission is free; the municipality has posted opening hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, and it also opens on the first Sunday of every month through Museos Abiertos. For scheduled visits, the municipality gives 510-2070 extension 3300. Curation note: Google shows shorter hours (8:30 to 17:30) and the hours loaded come from a municipal social media post, not from an institutional page.
