About Lugar de la Memoria, la Tolerancia y la Inclusión Social - LUM

The Lugar de la Memoria, la Tolerancia y la Inclusión Social (LUM) is at Bajada San Martín 151, on the Miraflores cliffs overlooking the Costa Verde, and is run by the Ministry of Culture. Its permanent exhibition, according to Andina, spans three floors with 11 spaces: it opens with the experiences of Uchuraccay, Putis and the Asháninka people, continues with audio testimonies, devotes the second floor to civil society's response —self-defense committees, community kitchens, families of the disappeared— and closes on the third with a memorial projecting the names from the Single Registry of Victims. Our take: it is a museum of testimonies rather than objects, and it asks for time and openness; it is a key visit for understanding Peru over the last decades, and it should not be rushed. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and entry is free with an ID. Google lists wheelchair-accessible entrance, restrooms and parking.
