About Museo Aeronáutico del Perú

The Museo Aeronáutico del Perú occupies part of the Castillo Rospigliosi, at Calle Manuel del Pino 448 in Santa Beatriz, by block 14 of Av. Petit Thouars, and is run by the Peruvian Air Force. According to the Ministry of Culture's museum portal, the castle is a medieval-style building constructed in 1929 under President Augusto B. Leguía, and the museum shows clothing, photographs and objects of pioneers such as Jorge Chávez and Pedro Paulet, plus a room devoted to José Abelardo Quiñones; it has a library, an auditorium, guided visits and parking. Our take: it is worth it as much for the building as for the collection; a short, inexpensive visit for anyone interested in aviation history, and a good excuse to see the inside of one of Lima's most curious buildings. The Ministry of Culture lists opening hours Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 15:00. According to Andina (2023), admission is S/ 6 for adults and S/ 4 for children, and free for children under 5. Curation note: in 2023 visits ran in time slots capped at 30 people with prior registration on the museum's Facebook page; it is worth confirming at (01) 471 2709 before going.
