About Museo de Sitio Bodega y Quadra
The Museo de Sitio Bodega y Quadra is at Jr. Áncash 213, in the Historic Centre, near the San Francisco convent, and is run by the Municipality of Lima. Created in 2012, it is part of the historic Bodega y Quadra property, declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation, and protects one of the most important colonial archaeological sites found in the Centre in recent years; the name comes from the navigator and explorer Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra, owner of the plot. Its seven rooms show archaeological, colonial and republican pieces recovered in the excavations, which give a sense of how Lima society lived between the 17th and 19th centuries (Ministry of Culture record). Our take: it is a short visit that combines archaeology and urban history, and it fits easily into a walk around San Francisco and the Parque de la Muralla. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 (Ministry of Culture; Google matches). Curation note: there is no official admission price published (Google and recent reviews give different amounts) and the website linked on Google, museosdelima.com, shows a certificate error.
