About Museo Municipal Prehispánico
The Municipal Pre-Hispanic Museum is at Jirón Áncash 299, in Lima's Historic Center, a few blocks from the Plaza Mayor; it is run by the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, and Mincetur's tourism inventory places it in the mansion known as the House of the Thirteen Doors. According to the Ministry of Culture, it was created in 2018 and has three permanent exhibition rooms and a multipurpose room with archaeological pottery from the municipal collection, from cultures such as Moche, Nasca, Lambayeque and Chimú; the museum also runs educational workshops. Our take: it is a short visit organized by culture, more useful as a pause during a walk around the Center than as a destination in itself. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. Google lists wheelchair-accessible entrance and restrooms and flags it as good for kids. Curation note: we could not find an admission price published by the municipality or the Ministry of Culture, so we do not list one; it is worth confirming on arrival.
