Juanito de Barranco
Why we recommend it
Juanito sits on the corner of Grau and Barranco's main square and has not changed its decor in decades: shelves of bottles to the ceiling, a skylight, wooden tables pushed together, caricatures of the family painted on the wall. What you order is the butifarra — house-baked jamón del país, brought out whole and carved in front of you — and a beer, though the bar also turns out pisco sours and chilcanos. It opens at ten in the morning and closes at one, stretching to two on Fridays and Saturdays, so it works as an early aperitif or as the last stop of the night. It is one of the fixed points of the Barranco circuit and fills up at weekends.
