Cocina tradicional de Amazonas · · $$
El Batán del Tayta
Why we recommend it
It works half a block from the Chachapoyas main square and presents itself as cocina de origen: produce from local growers, techniques from the traditional Amazonas recipe book, and dishes served on volcanic stone. Google credits it with a solid bar —cocktails, beer, wine—, live music, a private dining room, vegetarian and organic dishes, and the house also does catering. Our read: this is the restaurant travellers coming from Kuélap or Gocta reach when they want to understand the region at the table, and the 2026 Premio Somos confirmed it as the Amazon's best. It runs split hours: lunch until 4:30 and dinner from 6, except Sundays, when it opens only at night.
