República del Pisco - Barranco

República del Pisco has two locations in Lima (Barranco and Miraflores) and one in Cusco; this is the Barranco one, at Jr. Sucre 315, a few steps from the Puente de los Suspiros, in a two-story house with a patio and balcony. The house describes itself as a space inspired by Peruvian culture: signature pisco cocktails, afternoon lunches and sharing plates, and at night, live music Tuesday to Saturday. Our take: pisco and music lead here and the food plays a supporting role; it works best as a group outing or a long pre-party rather than a culinary destination. It opens every day from noon and closes at midnight Sunday to Wednesday, at 1 am on Thursdays and at 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays; reservations are made through its website, and groups of more than 15 people or events have a separate line.
